Indonesian plantation teak is a highly regarded hardwood known for its stability, workability, and consistent quality. The heartwood typically displays a warm golden to honey-brown colour, sometimes lightening toward the edges, with a straight to mildly interlocked grain and an even, refined texture.

Naturally durable and resistant to decay and insect attack, plantation teak contains natural oils that provide good performance in both interior and exterior applications. It is well suited to furniture making, joinery, benchtops, and outdoor projects where dimensional stability and longevity are important, while also offering a more sustainable and responsibly managed alternative to old-growth teak.

Both Burmese and Indonesian plantation teak are Tectona grandis. Burmese (old-growth) teak is traditionally preferred for decking and high-wear exposed areas due to its higher oil content. Indonesian plantation teak offers excellent stability and durability and is widely used for interior joinery, trim, seating, rails, with a more consistent appearance and sustainable supply.
